In Mag·Blast, you command a fleet with a Flag Ship surrounded by attack ships. You play cards to call reinforcements, attack opponents, and defend your own ships. The goal is to destroy opponents' outer ships and then their Flag Ship to eliminate them. The game offers fast-paced, interactive space battles with variable player powers adding unique abilities for each race.
Who Is This Game For?
Mag·Blast is suitable for players aged 10 and up who enjoy tactical card games with direct interaction and player elimination. It is a family-level game with medium complexity and takes about 60 minutes to play. Some prior experience with hand management and take-that mechanics helps but is not mandatory.
How It Works
Each player controls a Flag Ship surrounded by attack ships. On your turn, you discard cards, draw back to five, play combinations of cards to call reinforcements, and execute attack and defense cards. Destroying an opponent's outer ships allows you to attack their Flag Ship and eliminate them. Variable player powers differentiate races and strategies.
What Makes It Special
Designed in 1998 by Christian T. Petersen and Anders M. Petersen, Mag·Blast mixes hand management, player elimination, and take-that mechanics in a sci-fi card battle. Its variable player powers and humorous theme distinguish it from other card games of its time.
