What to Expect
You fill in numbers on forest cards to create continuous trails for your ants, collecting honeydew and worker ants as bonuses. Turns are driven by separate number and pattern decks; sometimes an anteater card skips writing for that round. After three rounds you score honeydew and then evaluate the trails on each card.
Who Is This Game For?
Aimed at players 10+ who enjoy concise, tactical Flip-and-Write games. With 1–4 players it supports solo play and small groups. At about 30 minutes per game it suits short game sessions or a filler on a game night.
How It Works
Each player starts with two forest floor cards. Each turn you reveal a number and a pattern card; you may write the indicated number into spaces matching the pattern. Jokers allow choosing number or pattern, while an anteater stops writing that turn. Worker ants can modify numbers or let you write in any pattern. Completing tasks on forest cards grants bonuses like workers, honeydew, or marking spaces. After the decks are exhausted, honeydew is scored during intermediate steps and trails are scored at the end.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Jordy Adan, Fantastic Trails mixes Pattern Building with Flip-and-Write and adds tactical layers via worker ants and joker/anteater cards. The separate number and pattern decks and card-based bonuses give more decision points than a straightforward entry game.
