What to Expect
In Undaunted: North Africa, you command either Britain's Long Range Desert Group or Italian forces during the North African campaign of World War II. This game blends deck-building with tactical combat on a modular hexagonal board. Players maneuver units, deploy vehicles, and adapt as wounded soldiers leave their decks, requiring strategic flexibility through various missions.
Who Is This Game For?
This game targets experienced strategy players and fans of two-player wargames who appreciate tactical depth combined with deck-building. With a playtime of about 60 minutes and a recommended age of 14+, it fits well as a medium-weight game for dedicated gaming sessions rather than casual family play.
How It Works
Players use Command Cards and deck-building to activate units and perform actions. Cards are drafted openly and the deck is built situationally. The modular hex-grid board allows movement and combat, while dice rolling determines combat outcomes and adds randomness to tactical decisions.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Trevor Benjamin and David Thompson, Undaunted: North Africa won the 2020 Board Game Quest Award and Golden Geek Award for Best Two Player Game. It is a sequel to Undaunted: Normandy, uniquely combining wargaming with deck-building mechanics in a WWII setting.
