What to Expect

You build an aesthetic patchwork quilt on a personal 7x7 board by placing larger, simpler pieces. Each turn, you pick from three open patches, pay with buttons, and advance your time token on a track. If your token is not behind your opponent’s, you take another turn. The game combines tile placement and time track mechanics in a quick, tactical duel.

Who Is This Game For?

Patchwork Express targets families and casual players looking for a quick, easy-to-learn two-player game. It is a family game with a short 10-minute duration and suitable for ages 6 and up. No prior experience with complex Uwe Rosenberg games is needed.

How It Works

On your turn, you select one of three face-up patches and pay its cost in buttons. You place the patch on your 7x7 grid without overlap and move your time token forward according to the patch's time cost. If your time token is ahead or tied with your opponent’s, you get another turn; otherwise, the opponent plays. Alternatively, you can pass, move your token ahead of your opponent’s, and collect buttons. Passing certain spaces on the time track grants additional button income based on your placed patches.
