In Patchwork Doodle, each player fills a personal 9x9 grid with polyomino shapes determined by dice rolls. A rabbit moves between cards arranged in a circle, and the card it lands on dictates the shape players must draw on their sheets. Players can use special actions like splitting polyominos or filling single squares to optimize their coverage and avoid penalty points for empty spaces.
Who Is This Game For?
This game is suitable for puzzle enthusiasts and families with children aged 8 and up. It is a light to medium-weight game with a short playtime of about 20 minutes. Solo play is supported, making it accessible for single players. Prior experience with roll-and-write games is helpful but not required.
How It Works
Each round, polyomino cards are laid out in a circle and the rabbit is moved forward by dice roll. The card where the rabbit stops indicates the polyomino all players must draw on their grids. Four special actions can be used once each, such as splitting a polyomino or drawing adjacent cards. At the end of rounds, players lose points for uncovered spaces, encouraging efficient placement.
