In Dragonwood, players collect adventurer cards to earn dice that they roll to capture creatures in a mythical forest. You form combinations like Strike, Stomp, or Scream to challenge opponents. The gameplay mixes hand management, dice rolling, and push-your-luck mechanics as the landscape changes dynamically. Strategic risk-taking is key to earning victory points and winning the game.
Who Is This Game For?
Dragonwood is a light family game with a playtime of about 20 minutes, suitable for ages 8 and up. It offers easy-to-learn mechanics and is ideal for casual players who enjoy quick card and dice games with some tactical choices and luck elements.
How It Works
On your turn, you either draw a card or attempt to capture a creature by forming sets of cards: Strike (sequences of any color), Stomp (same number), or Scream (same color). The number of cards in your set equals the dice you roll. Special six-sided dice reduce extreme luck, and you need to meet or exceed creature thresholds to capture them and earn victory points.

Designed by Darren Kisgen, Dragonwood won the Mensa Select award in 2015. It blends dice rolling, hand management, and push-your-luck in a fantasy setting. Part of the Creatures: Dragons family, it was published internationally by Gamewright and others.
