What to Expect

In Brawl, you engage in lightning-fast combat, playing cards from your unique deck in real-time. Each player aims to control their base by playing more Hits while defending with Blocks and other cards. The game ends when all bases are frozen, resulting in intense, seconds-long gameplay sessions.

Who Is This Game For?

Brawl is suited for players who enjoy fast-paced, dynamic real-time card games. It is a light to medium-weight game with a short playtime of about 15 minutes, requiring quick reflexes rather than deep prior experience. It is less suited for families with young children due to its speed and intensity.

How It Works

Each player uses a deck with variable player powers and places a base card on the table. Players simultaneously play cards (Hits, Blocks, Clears, etc.) in real-time without turns, trying to dominate their base by playing more Hits. The game ends when all bases have been frozen by specific Freeze cards.

Real-Time Variable Player Powers

What Makes It Special

Designed by James Ernest, Brawl won the 2000 Origins Award for Best Graphic Presentation of a Card Game. Its combination of real-time play and variable player powers makes it unique among combat sports card games. It is part of the Kickstarter crowdfunding family with an anime/manga theme.
