What to Expect

Players assume the role of a Dominus leading a house in ancient Rome's Capua, competing for influence through political schemes, market trades, and gladiatorial combat. Each round involves intrigue, buying and selling assets, and tactical arena battles using miniatures and dice. Bluffing, bribery, and betting add layers of interaction and strategy among players.

Who Is This Game For?

Designed for experienced players aged 17 and up, Spartacus requires patience for its roughly 180-minute playtime and complex mechanics. It suits enthusiasts of deep strategic and negotiation games rather than casual or family players.

How It Works

Gameplay occurs in three phases: Intrigue, Market, and Arena. Players manage hands of cards for schemes and bribery during Intrigue, bid and trade assets like gladiators in the Market phase, then engage in tactical dice-driven battles on a grid in the Arena. Betting on fights further influences player influence and rewards.
