Players follow Phileas Fogg's footsteps on a Victorian-themed world map, collecting travel cards and deciding whether to move immediately or wait for better cards. Using ship and train cards, players travel point-to-point between cities. Time management is crucial: the player who completes the journey in the fewest days wins. Special cards and a detective add strategic twists.
Who Is This Game For?
Suitable for 2 to 6 players aged 10 and up, this game targets enthusiasts who enjoy tactical racing with hand management. The roughly 70-minute playtime fits well into a game night. Some experience with hand management mechanics is helpful but not required.
How It Works
Each turn, players select a face-up travel card with an added bonus, such as first player next round. They then decide whether to travel to the next city by playing the required train or ship cards. Movement occurs point-to-point on the map, and turn order is tracked by a time track. The player who completes the world trip in the least days wins.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Michael Rieneck and nominated for the 2005 Spiel des Jahres, the game combines hand management, open drafting, and point-to-point movement in a strong literary setting. It's part of Kosmos's Literature series, inspired by Jules Verne's classic novel.
