Board game tournaments

From knockout bracket to table pyramid – tournaments that run themselves

Eight formats, teams if you like, bracket and standings do the maths. You record results at the table, spectators follow the standings on the public tournament page.

From Adventurer (€1.99/month) · all formats with teams in Guild Master · 14-day trial without payment details

Playnexi tournament page: knockout tournament “Azul-Cup” with four participants, bracket with round 1 and final, result entry
Knockout with four players: round 1 decided, final pending.

Eight formats for every group

When creating a tournament, Playnexi explains each format and recommends what fits the number of players.

Knockout

Winners advance, losers are out. The classic for four, eight or sixteen players.

Double elimination

Only the second defeat means the end. Fairer when an early stumble shouldn't decide everything.

Swiss system

Few rounds, many players: after each round, players on equal points face each other.

Points tournament

All at the same table or spread across several, points per round, the sum decides.

Last man standing

Someone drops out every round – like musical chairs, until only one is left.

King of the hill

The king defends the throne, challengers come one after another. Whoever wins stays on top.

Table pyramid

Group stage across several tables, the best move up, until the final table decides.

Public tournament page

Standings for everyone who wants to follow

Every tournament gets a link. Whoever has it sees standings, format, status and participants – no account, refreshes by itself. Player names are abbreviated there, privacy stays intact.

  • Standings with wins, draws, losses and points
  • If the tournament runs inside a game night, the spectator link of live mode as well
  • Invite participants by e-mail, RSVP without an account
  • Correct results, restart the tournament
  • Tournament matches count in statistics and player profiles

What makes tournaments in Playnexi

Bracket and standings

Pairings, byes, final, third-place match – Playnexi builds the bracket and recalculates after every result.

Teams

Put teams together or draw them, name them, swap players – the bracket shows teams instead of individuals.

In live mode

Start tournaments right from the game night's live mode; record results on the TV, the night's standings count along.

Invitations

Invite participants by e-mail, even without an account. RSVPs go through a link, the participant list fills itself.

Correct instead of retype

Entered a result wrongly? Correct it, the rest recalculates. And if everything went sideways: restart the tournament.

Achievements and statistics

Tournament wins unlock achievements, results land in player profiles and statistics.

Ideas from real tournaments

Club league over the winter

Round robin across several game nights, the table grows week by week, every result counts in the statistics.

King of the hill at the regulars' table

Whoever wins stays seated. Challengers come in turn – until someone finally defends the throne.

“Playnexi runs board game tournaments in eight formats – knockout, double elimination, Swiss system, round robin, points, last man standing, king of the hill and group stage with knockout –, with teams if you like, with a bracket, result corrections and a public tournament page with live standings.”
