Players build postal routes across Bavaria and surrounding regions by playing city cards in sequence. Routes must have at least three cities and earn points through placing post offices and collecting bonuses. On each turn, players draw cards from an open display or deck, adding to their route or starting a new one. Strategic hand management and network building are key. The game ends when a player runs out of post offices or obtains the highest value carriage.
Who Is This Game For?
Designed for enthusiasts aged 10 and up, this game suits players who enjoy strategic hand management and route building. With a 60-minute playtime, it fits well into game nights. Prior experience with strategy games is helpful but not required.
How It Works
Thurn and Taxis uses hand management, network and route building, and set collection mechanics. Players draw cards from an open draft or deck and add them to their current route. When a route has at least three cities, it can be completed for points, post offices, and bonuses. Optional actions include drawing or playing a second card and refreshing the city card display. After scoring, players start a new route until the game ends.
