What to Expect

In Kendo, up to four samurai battle across a hex grid to safely escort their prince to the palace at the center. Each player moves pieces numbered 1 (Prince), 2 (Samurai), or 3 (Fighter) exactly their number of spaces. Capturing opponent pieces removes them from play. The game demands tactical planning as reaching the palace with your prince grants bonus points.

Who Is This Game For?

Kendo is suitable for players aged 10 and up who enjoy short, strategic abstract games. It is a medium complexity game lasting about 30 minutes, ideal for those familiar with abstract strategy games. The rules are straightforward but require tactical foresight.

How It Works

Each player controls up to eight pieces with values 1, 2, or 3, indicating exactly how many hex spaces they may move. Moving onto a space occupied by an opponent's piece captures and removes it. The goal is to move your prince to the palace at the board’s center. Pieces cannot jump over others, and the palace itself is inaccessible except for the prince’s arrival.

Point to Point Movement

What Makes It Special
