Players take on the roles of suspects trying to deduce which person, weapon, and room cards were removed from the deck. Moving pawns through rooms by rolling dice, players make accusations and attempt to disprove others' claims. An intrigue deck introduces extra actions and the risk of elimination, adding tension. The game combines memory and deduction in a familiar mansion setting.
Who Is This Game For?
Suitable for families and casual gamers aged 9 and up, this is a light to medium-weight game with about 60 minutes playtime. Prior experience with deduction games helps but isn't required. It offers accessible rules balanced with strategic depth.
How It Works
The game uses Memory and Roll / Spin and Move mechanics. At the start, one person, weapon, and room card are set aside in an envelope. Remaining cards are dealt to players. Players roll dice to move their pawns through rooms, making suspicions about the missing cards. Others must secretly reveal cards to disprove suspicions if possible. Players also draw intrigue cards that can grant extra actions or cause elimination. The goal is to correctly identify the three hidden cards first.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Rob Daviau and Anthony E. Pratt, this 2008 version modernizes classic Clue by adding nine weapons instead of six and unique character powers usable once per game. The intrigue deck adds new strategic layers with extra actions and elimination risks. Though it has no official awards, it is part of the iconic Cluedo family by Hasbro and Parker Brothers.
