In Bandu, players take turns selecting wooden blocks and bidding with 'beans' to either place them on their tower or pass them on. The game blends balancing skills with strategic auctions and bluffing. When a player's tower falls, they are out. Various modes allow either individual or collective tower building, creating a dynamic and tense experience.
Who Is This Game For?
Bandu is a family game suitable from age 7, with simple rules and about 45 minutes playtime. It appeals to players who enjoy combining dexterity with tactical bidding. No prior experience is required, but a steady hand and timing sense are helpful.
How It Works
Players pick wooden blocks from a shared supply each turn. Using the Auction / Bidding mechanic, they bid beans to accept or refuse the block. The winner or loser places the block on their own tower using Stacking and Balancing. If a tower collapses, that player is eliminated. The last tower standing wins.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Klaus Zoch, Bandu received a Spiel des Jahres recommendation in 1988. It uniquely combines Auction / Bidding with dexterous tower building. As part of the Tower Stacking family, it offers engaging auction variants within a dexterity game.
