The Hobbit: There and Back Again - Will I like it if I don’t like LOTR?

I was never really interested in any of the Lord of the Rings books, movies, or anything. My brother is thinking about getting it for my family. The gameplay looks interesting but I fear that I won’t find it fun with my disinterest towards The Hobbit. For anyone that has played the game, what do you think? submit

We just finished Clank Legacy 1 and I have to say…

Truly phenomenal. Best game we’ve played in a long while. Fun level, I’d seriously put it up there with Pandemic Legacy 0/1. Ten out of 10 would recommend to everyone. It was basically the best of the Raven adventure games combined with dominion in a legacy format that kept things fresh and interesting. I know it is hi

COMC — optimal shelf packing!

Optimal or not, I had fun implementing the Maximal Rectangles algorithm. I recovered an entire cubby for more games! (Definitely need a cull soon — many of these were games my kids liked when they were younger but which will probably never see a table again…) submitted by /u/jamis [link] [Kommentare]

Gaming (coffee) table

For anyone (especially solo players like me) who is looking for a dedicated table for playing campaign board games so you don’t have to setup and put away all the time. I love this because it’s a coffee table that is big but does not need space like a dining table. The space and measurement is enough for solo board gam

Mandelbrot’s Game of Life

The Tokyo Game Market has long been a hotbed of innovation, especially where trick-takers are concerned. Sometimes the games don’t work entirely as intended, but, hey, that’s what it takes to transform the world one small iteration at a time. The bricks of the forum weren’t laid in a day. Case in poin

Which of the modern boardgames already feel very dated?

I'm relatively new to the hobby, so I don't have much perspective. Are there any of the modern boardgames (say, starting with Catan) that already feel dated? Either because the mechanics was greatly improved by a more recent game or because the theme doesn't seem appropriate in our time. submitted by

Lord of the Rings Ascension

As someone who loves the LOTR IP and who is a fan of deckbuilders, this seems like it could be a dangerous crowdfunding campaign for me. I've never played Ascension though! I'm not a Bridge player, but I have been reading about the game. This part of the rule surprises me.
