In Mystery of the Abbey, players act as monks investigating a murder in a medieval abbey. You move around the board, gather clues, and question other players to identify the culprit. The game uses mechanics such as Area Movement, Deduction, and Dice Rolling to create interactive and social gameplay. Event cards and special rooms add variety and unpredictability to each session.
Who Is This Game For?
The game targets experienced players who enjoy deduction and social interaction. With a playtime around 90 minutes, it suits groups of 3 to 6 players aged 8 and up. It requires familiarity with deduction games and has no solo mode.
How It Works
Players take turns moving up to two spaces on the board (Area Movement) and then ask other players questions about the monk cards they hold (Deduction). Hand Management and Paper-and-Pencil mechanics help track clues. Every four rounds, a 'Mass' event triggers card exchanges and special events. Dice Rolling introduces additional randomness through event cards.
