What to Expect

In Rolling Japan, players simultaneously fill a map of Japan divided into 47 prefectures grouped in six colored areas. Players roll two dice and write the numbers in matching colored areas, respecting a rule that adjacent prefectures can only differ by one in number. If placement is impossible, an X is marked. After eight rounds, the player with the fewest Xs wins.

Who Is This Game For?

Rolling Japan is suitable for families and casual players aged 8 and up who enjoy light dice games with some spatial reasoning. Its 15-minute playtime makes it perfect for quick sessions or warm-ups. It is a family-level game with simple rules requiring no prior experience.

How It Works

Each player has their own map of Japan to fill in numbers based on dice rolls drawn from a bag containing six colored dice and one purple wild die. Numbers must be placed so that adjacent prefectures differ by no more than one. Players can use three color changes per game to change a die's color. Each round has six dice rolls, and the game lasts eight rounds.
